May 2, 2022

A Note from the President:

I’m pleased to announce that Susan Dubuque will co-chair this year’s eHealthcare Leadership Awards. Susan is cofounder of NDP Agency, a marketing and advertising firm based in Richmond, Virginia, and a nationally recognized expert in behavioral marketing. She literally wrote the book on marketing’s role in health improvement, Gearing Up for Population Health: Marketing for Change, published in 2018 by the Society for Health Care Strategy and Market Development of the American Hospital Association. Susan serves on the editorial advisory board of Strategic Health Care Marketing, and for me personally she has been an invaluable source of knowledge about our industry since we met in 2016. I’m thrilled to have her ideas and inspiration benefit the 2022 eHealthcare Leadership Awards. Read on for her insights on this year’s program.

Spring is here, and it’s time to turn your attention to the 2022 eHealthcare Leadership Awards. We’re pleased to announce that this year’s Call for Entries is officially open!

ehla-logo-squaredIn addition to affecting our overall lives in innumerable ways, the pandemic has certainly presented us with many challenges as healthcare marketers. Budgets were slashed due to revenue reductions. Our traditional marketing focus shifted from service line promotion and patient acquisition to COVID-19-related communications. Patients suffered and their medical conditions worsened because they were fearful to come to the hospital and seek care.

But through it all, the importance of digital communications shone brightly. Our marketing teams maintained high productivity while working remotely. Patients leaned into online access to health information and healthcare services. And websites and digital channels helped our staff members, patients, and communities navigate the swiftly changing guidelines for COVID-19 safety, testing, vaccinations, and the like.

Last year, we created two exciting new award categories: Best Microsite or Landing Page and Best Digital Leadership in Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

These new opportunities for recognition were greeted enthusiastically, and we are especially proud to honor healthcare organizations and professionals who support and enable equitable access to healthcare for all citizens.

In addition, for the second year, the Best COVID-19 Pandemic Related Communications category recognized the critical work of communications, marketing, and technology teams to support their healthcare organizations’ efforts to protect our communities.

Announcing New Categories for 2022

Just as healthcare is in a constant state of change, the eHealthcare Leadership Awards continually evolve to better reflect the state of our industry and the digital landscape.

This year, we are pleased to offer 28 award categories — including six new ones. We’re particularly excited about Best Use of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Marketing. Al and Machine Learning (ML) are transforming the healthcare industry with many applications for marketing — from precise targeting of market segments and enhancing web engagement with chatbots to achieving health equity goals and reimagining customer experiences.

Our second new category, Best Digital Physician Engagement, affords you the opportunity to showcase all the ways you connect with providers through efficient and targeted digital channels.

Finally, we all know content is king. So, get ready to share your Best Email Content (individual and series) and Best Video Content (long and short). These powerhouse tactics build awareness, fill the funnel, and establish credibility with new customers as well as foster loyalty among existing customers.

Tips for Entries

The more information you can provide for the judges, the more they will understand your goals, your strategies and tactics, and the results you achieved. For each entry, you may add supporting documents. Although not required for every category, this extra information really helps paint a picture of what you did and why it is worthy of top honors. And if you include some great images or video clips, they just might end up in the highlight video during the awards presentation and in our coverage of winners!
